CEU Update

Requirements from State agencies have recently changed for licensed providers of Continuing Units (CEUs) for CNA's, RN/LVN's and MFT/LCSW's. We are sorry to announce that SBCC Center for Lifelong Learning is therefore no longer offering CEU's. Please check online and with other local agencies for offerings elsewhere.

QUESTIONS CONCERNING CONTINUING EDUCATION UNITS (CEU’s)

Why has SBCC suspended its offering of Continuing Education Units (CEUs)?

We are currently in the process of renewing our licenses as a provider of CEUs with various State licensing agencies. These state agencies now have more time intensive renewal application requirements that our staff is working through. As a result, we feel it is in the best interest of our class participants to suspend the offering of CEUs while we proceed with the renewal process.

We are working with CDPH to confirm this and provide more information as soon as possible.

Our hope is that this process will have minimal impact on our class participants. We are working with CDPH to inform us as soon as possible.

A CNA recently has her SBCC CEUs for CLL Spanish classes rejected. Why was X’s Spanish class not approved?

We don’t know why this class was rejected for CEUs. What we do know is that Spanish classes have been approved for CEUs for CNAs for many years. This is one of the issues SBCC is discussing with CDPH.

How can CNAs get their CEUs now?

There are many websites that provide information and coursework for California CNAs but for the time being, the CLL is suspending CEUs as part of our class offerings.
